Observation of α decay from a state in 10B at 11.48 MeV

چکیده
We report on the observation of α decay from a state in 10B at 11.48 MeV. The only observed decay branch is to the first T = 1 state in 6Li at 3.56 MeV. The apparent absence of an α-decay branch to the (T = 0) ground state in 6Li suggests that the 11.48-MeV state should be assigned isospin T = 1. The spin and parity of the 11.48-MeV state could not be directly determined from the present study apart from J = 0 being ruled out by the observed angular correlation. We conjecture that the 11.48-MeV state is the analog of the 10.15-MeV, (4+) state in 10Be, constitutes the third member of a rotational band built on the 0+ state at 7.65 MeV, and has pronounced molecular structure.

After inelastic scattering, structures associated with excited states in 10C were observed at 5.22, 5.29, 6.55, 6.56, 6.57, and 8.4 MeV which decay into the 2p + 2α final state. This final state is created via a number of different decay paths, which ...

High-resolution triple-α coincidence data were used to reconstruct the decay of the excited states in 12C at 7.65 MeV (J π = 0+) and 9.64 MeV (J π = 3−). These data are consistent with the α-particle decay of both levels proceeding exclusively through Beg.s.. In the first of these cases, the Hoyle state, an upper limit of 0.45% (at the 99.75% confidence level) is set for a component producing t...

Resonance-decay spectroscopy is used to study particle-unbound excited states produced in interactions of E/A=50 MeV Be on polyethylene and carbon targets. The particle-unbound states are produced in a variety of reaction mechanisms ranging from projectile fragmentation to proton-pickup. New proton-decaying excited states are observed in Li (E∗=14.1±0.1 MeV, Γ=207±49 keV) and Be (E∗=20.4±0.1 Me...

Following neutron knockout from an 13O beam, 12O fragments were created and the three decay products following two-proton decay were detected. A new ground-state mass was determined by the invariant mass method implying a decay kinetic energy of 1.638(24) MeV, and the width was found to be less than 72 keV. The latter is inconsistent with previous measurements with lower experimental resolution...
